Design The KB2 looks like a proper gaming keyboard. It has a black brushed metal finish which adds to the aesthetic of the device. The keyboard has an 87 key design and the keys are fully programmable as well.
Coming to the dimensions and the weight, the keyboard is compact with 365 * 140* 40mm (LxBxH) which will be comfortable for most of people. This 80% mechanical keyboard weighs exactly 702 grams or 1.5 lbs.
The keys are anti-ghosting and ergonomically placed which ensures a comfortable typing experience. The keys have what BlitzWolf calls “HD character” which is a euphemism for high quality. They also have Double Color Injection which is a sought-after quality in mechanical keyboards.
The back of the keyboard has good anti-skid pads and sturdy feet that put the keyboard in a slight tilt for a better typing experience. Apart from the normal anti-skid pads, this keyboard also has cable routing to both the left and the right side so you can route the cable as you wish. But the only downside is that the cable provided within the box doesn’t let you do that.
Keys The keys are made from ABS plastic and feel soft to touch. ABS plastic is the ‘higher end’ material of keys and you can expect your keys to last for a good time. The keycaps are printed with the double shot method which removes any doubts about the quality.
The keyboard has High Suspension keycaps and Gateron Optical Yellow Switches that can be hot-swapped. Hot Swapping is a crucial aspect of a gaming keyboard that lets the user change the switch to their choice and improve the user experience. You can choose between the Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green switches to put on the keyboard.
Gateron Yellow switches are an easy recommendation for people that prefer to have linear switches. The switches tend to have a quiet and smooth pressing with a very low click sensation. This makes them suitable for office users and for people who do typing for long hours.Â

Mechanical switches are all about the keypress force, key feedback, and the sound of typing. The Gateron Yellow switches are present on the middle ground between the Gateron Red (light press) and the Gateron Black(hard press) respectively. This makes them the right purchase for someone who is starting to use a mechanical keyboard for the first time and is overwhelmed by the options and cannot make a decision.
There are 12 multimedia buttons and the keys have an “Ergonomic Streamline Stepped layout” which ensures a smooth typing experience. There are no separate buttons for functions like volume up/down or rewind, those functions are programmed in the multimedia keys.
KB2 has an RGB backlight which looks amazing, especially in low-light. The keys are fully customizable and you can come with pre-programmed key combinations to initiate light effects.
The typing is as expected for a keyboard at this price. The keys are not factory lubed so many people might find the sound note to be slightly dry and uneasy on the ears. This problem can be solved with adequate lubing.
Connectivity The keyboard connects through a wired USB C connection. The cable is well braided and nicely placed beneath the keyboard in the middle and is 1.5 meters long that allowing great movement on the desk.
The keyboard supports every version of Windows, from XP to Windows 10 along with Apple’s Mac OS. Linux on the other hand is not supported which comes as a surprise and puts a dent in the usability.
Software and RGB control
The RGB backlights can be controlled by software that can be downloaded from the internet. You can choose between a range of RGB effects and apply them with the help of the software.
You can also reprogram all the keys of the BW KB2 and not worry about applying the settings again when you connect the keyboard to a different computer because the keyboard has an inbuilt memory that stores the data.
Conclusion The BlitzWolf BW KB2 is a great keyboard and offers a lot of value for the price. At a price between $65 to $75, It is a great beginner keyboard if you are just getting yourself into the mechanical keyboard. The major reason is that this keyboard has everything you will need – A fully customizable RGB keyboard with software basic features, Fully hot-swappable optical switches and a removable USB C cable. The build quality of the keyboard will not let you down, the device is sturdy and will last for a long time.
As mentioned earlier, the cable out of the box won’t let you route the cables because the head of the USB C is so long that it doesn’t curve, you might have to invest in a new USB C cable with a smaller head to make use of the cable routing feature in this keyboard. Apart from that, if you want to enter the keyboard modding it will be time-consuming with a long learning curve which might be quite a task for the inexperienced.
