Youtube Music’s new users seem to overpass the users of Google Play Music. While the oldest entity of Google still stands, we might not have it in the near future. Google Play Music might be discontinued considering the updates Google has been throwing on the new Youtube Music.
Google has been improving both the services in the past couple of years, users of the recent product have outgrown the one standing the market. Youtube Music was being tested in the past couple of months to bring features that were unique to the Google Play Music App. Looks like Google finally decided to cease the existence of the popular music app.
Youtube Music
According to the blog, Youtube music is the new place to browse your favorite music. You can create multiple playlists and manage all the catalogs available. The App’s offerings are as follows:
Playlist Creation – The new updated version of Youtube Music allows you to create a playlist of 1500 songs from 1000 songs. It gives the user more space for their favorite songs in a single playlist.

Offline Listening – Users can now listen to the downloaded songs. This feature this limited to premium members of the Youtube Music App. You can download music, playlists, or music video to watch it later on when you don’t have internet access.
Upload songs – You can upload songs in the library which has a limit of 100,000 songs. This is an upgrade over Google Play music which had a limit of 50,00 songs.
How to transfer
- Download the Youtube Music for iOS or Android.
- Click on Transfer. All your data including uploads, purchases, playlists, added songs, personal preferences will get transferred from Google Play Music to Youtube Music.
- The Updated recommendations will popup on your Youtube Homepage and you will get notified when all your music library has been transferred.
Pricing
The premium is available for the same price as Google Play Music i.e. $9.99 a month. Although you can add $2 in the Youtube App to get Full Youtube Premium Access. The premium includes background playback, unlimited offline downloads, and ad-free experience.
Users with Google Play Music premium will automatically get access to the Youtube Music premium subscription depending on the plan they are currently using. Google says to transfer your data from the older music app because they are planning to discontinue the app. Before this users will get a prior message from the company to make they are all backed up before it happens.
