Looks like Google has decided to change the privacy settings for the user to ensure the security of their data throughout using Google services. There have been a lot of complaints regarding security from the company but now they have something to show the users.

As Sundar Pichai mention in the blog, the new features are for the people who think Google is stealing their data or selling it outside. The main updates are regarding their data retention policies where they mention users can track how long Google holds their personal information in their servers. This means that all the data will be removed after a certain amount of time depending on the user.

This was introduced last year for location and web services but the company is moving forward and launching it for the other services too. Starting now, you get the freedom of deleting your Youtube history from the tab too. You can select the time duration which is the same as all the other services but an additional timer of 36 months. Of course, all this can be customized according to the users and you get an option of 3 months and above too.

Account Controls From Search

There are a few new options available for the users directly in the search bar.

  1. If signed in to Google on their smartphones, users can type in “Google Privacy Checkup” or “Is My Account Secure” which will give them a popup box showing some of the tasks they can do for a checkup of their account. This box is only visible to them through their account login.
  2. The incognito mode can be directly accessed by long-pressing the profile icon on the top right corner. This option is available throughout the range of Google services including Youtube and Google Maps. Currently, this feature is only available in Google App on iOS. Android and other apps will roll out soon.

Google Password Checker

Another new feature is launching in a few weeks named Password Checker which was announced last year by the company. This will help you by checking if your passwords are compromised. It tells you the exact number of passwords that are compromised of which site so you can change it immediately before the loss of any data.

These solutions are going to help the company building trust in the users again after the incognito spying which was found a couple of days ago. Stay connected with us to get daily updates.
