Chinese tech giant OnePlus has surprisingly leaked the e-mail addresses of hundreds of users in a mere blunder. The company is known for its premium range of products worldwide with millions of customers.

According to the report by IndiaTVNews, this is an accidental leak from the company which made hundreds of user’s email vulnerable for attackers. OnePlus exposed the e-mails of so many people while sending out bulk mail for research purposes to the users.

The company was sending a mail to all the users for analysis but instead of entering the e-mails in the BCC field, they put all the details on the TO field. This resulted in all the users receiving details of every e-mail address which was sent in their inbox. This is very concerning for all the leaked users as the attacker could use them for any purpose he/she wants.

OnePlus hasn’t responded regarding this matter. There is no clue as to how many users’ data was leaked but the leak says it’s in hundreds. This is initially good because the exposure could’ve been in thousands and lakhs. This leak is not from any hacker organization or a bug but from the company itself. The leak was reported on Friday but OnePlus hasn’t said anything about this.

OnePlus had a major breach in November last year which leaked past order information of the customers. This included Name, Email, Contact Number, and Shipping Address. Thankfully, the hackers didn’t get access to the account or the payment information for further damage in the accounts.

To stay secure, the same procedures would be suggested including not clicking on any spammy link which appears to be from a clone website. One of the most important is having a strong password for your account which makes the guessing work even harder for the attackers.

OnePlus is a leading brand in the world with its flagship OnePlus 8 Series launched throughout the world and the recently launched OnePlus Nord in India and Europe.
