Ubisoft’s most popular game Rainbow Six Siege seems to be cloned by Alibaba owned company. Ubisoft went forward and sued both Google and Apple for hosting the clone of the game in their stores.
According to the reports by Bloomberg, the game Area F2 created by Ejoy is a “near carbon copy” of their most high titled R6S, and competitors are always looking for a way to “piggyback R6S’s popularity. Ubisoft says R6S is one of their most “valuable intellectual properties” which currently has a player base of 55 million and played by 3 million every day.
For those of you who have no idea about Rainbow Six: Siege, it is one of the most popular competitive titles in the world. The game is also played as competitive “Esport” with all types of teams competing for a title and prizes. Ubisoft says that almost all the aspects of the rip-off clone have been copied from R6S from the operator selection screen to the final scoring screen and everything in between.
Google has not responded yet regarding the matter, while Alibaba and Apple did respond after business hours. We’ll have to wait more on the information about what both the companies do in response to this complaint. While

Ejoy was acquired by Alibaba in 2017. Alibaba is a reputed brand, but this new copyright can damage its reputation as there are millions of Ubisoft fans online who don’t wanna see a clone app of their favorite game. Area F2 was promoted last year through multiple social media channels and was launched for smartphones and tablets last month according to the complaint.
Ubisoft also mentioned they notified both the companies about the clone app listed in their respective app stores but they refused to take it down from Google Play Store and App Store. While the copyright claim should’ve been onto Ejoy, it looks like Ubisoft sued Apple and Google for listing them on their app stores.
