Google Meet is getting a huge upgrade on the AI algorithms to make your meeting more successful and engaging. The new update will allow a proper noise cancellation of the background sounds that might infer in your professional meetings.
This feature for Google Meet was launched back in April for the G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for education customers. If you’re a G Suite user, this might take a while to properly rollout to everyone out there. For Non-G Suite Users, there’s no official verdict from the company regarding the rollout of this feature for them.
According to the report by VentureBeat, the update onto Google Meet will cancel all the background noise through the high-quality algorithms that have been in testing from the past year. Google has been working to make this possible through AI and in current times of need, this is getting rollout to the customers.
The G Suite director of product management Serge Lachapelle gives us a demonstration of how this feature works for the Google Meet users and up to what extent it removes the background noise. The AI is not perfect and he says we’re working on improving it every day to make it s accurate as possible to recognize the particular noise or sounds and differentiate between the good and bad ones.

The director also says that the AI can currently remove heavy background noise like construction work in your neighborhood or vacuum cleaner in your house. While the audio of you singing is still there, the instrument noise in the background will be removed. In the video, Lachapelle also tells us something about Cloud denoiser and we’re guessing this is the name of the new service that will help remove the noise from the background in your meetings.
In the end, the director also mentioned the step towards privacy and encryption they’re taking. Well, considering the recent allegations on Google about breaching privacy on incognito mode, we can’t be sure about anything from the company now. But the reports mentioned they’re using encryption for the voice when it goes to the cloud for AI processing making it secure from outside attacks. To be honest, outside attacks are not an issue when Google is just stealing millions of user data without people’s acknowledgment.
The update for Google Meet will roll soon to all the G Suite users and only for web users right now. We can expect the app versions for Android and iOS to receive an update soon. The web rollout for everyone can be expected by June End.
